Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India, serving since 2014. He is a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), one of the two major political parties in India, and is known for his strong leadership, charisma, and oratory skills.

Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, a town in the Indian state of Gujarat. Before entering politics, he worked as a tea seller and later joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization.

Modi began his political career as a member of the BJP and served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. During his tenure, Gujarat saw significant economic development and infrastructure growth, but also faced criticism for the 2002 Gujarat riots, which resulted in the deaths of over a thousand people, mostly Muslims.

In 2014, Modi led the BJP to a landslide victory in the Indian general elections, and he was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India. Since then, he has launched several initiatives, including the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign) and the Make in India campaign, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing.

Modi has been a controversial figure, with critics accusing him of promoting a Hindu nationalist agenda and stifling dissent. However, he remains popular among many Indians and has won re-election in 2019.
